Meet Pastor John

Pastor John Haas has led the Senior Ministry at EBBC since 2008.   He had served as a part-time assistant pastor and managed his own insurance business until 2023.  He leads a monthly Seniors Bible Study, Lunch and Program with the help of many volunteers.  His wife, Sandy, works alongside him in ministering to the seniors.  Together they visit, counsel and fellowship with the EBBC seniors.  His role also includes managing the church cemetery and conducting funeral services for many of our members.

Upon becoming the Pastor of Seniors, Pastor John enrolled in seminary at Calvary Baptist Theological Seminary where he earned a M.A.T.S. degree (Master of Arts in Theological Studies).  He has continued to pursue his ministerial eduation through various other college classes and seminars.  He actively serves as an elder, helps lead the Men’s Ministry, the weekly Prayer meeting and teaches the pre-school children on Sundays with his wife, Sandy.

Pastor John has lived in Downingtown since the age of 4, where he graduated from Downingtown High School.  He received a B. S. in Accounting from West Chester University and spent most of his career in accounting and insurance.  He and Sandy have been members of East Brandywine Baptist Church since 1977 where they raised their two children. They have three grandchildren who live in Michigan.  Pastor John enjoys watching the Phillies, football, playing golf and traveling.
